Job summary

SOCOTEC US is seeking curious, dependable learners to join the SLS division. You will work with Senior Fire Protection Engineers to develop Life Safety and Fire Protection systems, while exploring building systems, code research, and design components for safe, code-compliant buildings.

Associates should be prepared to grow in areas such as egress design, smoke control, and hazardous materials analysis, with strong communication and detail-oriented problem solving driving the work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in the engineering or architecture disciplines required.
• 0 to 3 years of relevant experience in Fire Protection and Life Safety.
• Engineering in Training (EIT) Certification preferred.
• Experience with Bluebeam, AutoCAD, REVIT, Microsoft Suite encouraged.
• Experience with CONTAM, Pyrosim, FDS, and PathFinder desirable.
• Exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Strong written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist Senior Fire Protection Engineers to design Life Safety and Fire Protection systems.

• Contribute to fire-resistant construction analysis and performance-based design.

Job Description

This role is specifically within the SLS division of SOCOTEC. SLS/SOCOTEC is seeking curious, dependable, and proactive learners focused on continuous improvement to join our team. Associates should be prepared to explore the many building systems and design components involved in developing a safe and code compliant building design.

Associates will work with Senior Fire Protection Engineers to design and develop Life Safety and Fire Protection systems. They are encouraged to spend time developing skills in particular areas of interest. Projects will focus on adherence to quality standards through plan reviews and technical reports. Projects will have components of but will not be limited to the following: egress design, code research, smoke control system design, fire-resistant construction analysis, performance-based design, fire sprinkler design, and hazardous material analysis.

Associates are expected to have strong communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills to effectively support team efficiency. Associates should also be detail oriented and possess superior problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in the engineering or architecture disciplines required
• 0 to 3 years of relevant experience in Fire Protection and Life Safety
• Engineering in Training (EIT) Certification preferred
• Experience with Bluebeam, AutoCAD, REVIT, Microsoft Suite encouraged
• Experience with CONTAM, Pyrosim, FDS, and/or PathFinder desirable

• Perform all other duties as assigned by your supervisor or manager
