Job summary

Affiliated Engineers, Inc. in Madison is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer I to contribute to energy-efficient building solutions and safer environments for clients.

You will be mentored by experienced engineers, perform calculations, sizing layouts, equipment selection and shop drawings, and grow toward leading aspects of projects.

As you gain project experience, you will write specifications, participate in client meetings with consultants, and support construction-phase work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Aerospace, Architectural, Chemical, Civil, Electrical, Fire Protection or Mechanical).
• 2+ years of experience in fire suppression systems, fire alarm systems, and clean agent systems required.
• Experience in computer operation for engineering calculation programs and ability to learn computer-aided drafting/BIM software.
• Understanding of applicable design codes, design standards and specification requirements, and ability to interpret them.

Responsibilities

• Perform calculations, determine system sizing and layouts, select equipment.
• Complete field surveys and prepare shop drawings.
• Write specifications and participate in project meetings with clients and other consultants.
• Support construction-phase work and take on more responsibility as you gain experience.
