Job summary

Jensen Hughes seeks an experienced Fire Protection Consultant for the Pacific Northwest, ideally near Portland, OR or Bellevue, WA. You will work on fire protection engineering across code consulting, systems design, and strategy development.

The role requires strong analytical and communication skills, with responsibilities spanning plan reviews, code interpretation, and coordination with design teams and authorities having jurisdiction.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in fire protection consulting, design of fire suppression and alarm systems, and performance-based strategies.
• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
• NICET certification is strongly preferred or equivalent industry experience.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proven project management experience.
• Experience in developing building code concepts, plan reviews, and field reviews/inspections.
• Ability to present clear and technically sound fire protection engineering strategies.
• Independent work capability and collaboration with professionals and authorities.
• Fire alarm and fire sprinkler design knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage and implement a wide variety of engineering design and consulting projects.
• Satisfy client needs by completing tasks on schedule and within budget.
• Coordinate building and fire code reviews and analyses, including plan reviews and site visits.
• Prepare and peer review project-related technical reports.
• Develop fire protection strategies and alternative solutions for client design issues.
• Communicate effectively with project teams, clients, and authorities.
• Support business development and client relationships in the sub-region (up to 10%).
