Job summary

Jensen Hughes seeks an experienced Fire Protection Consultant for the Pacific Northwest, ideally near Portland, OR or Bellevue, WA. You will work across fire protection engineering, including building code consulting, fire protection systems, and strategy development, coordinating with design teams and authorities having jurisdiction.

The role requires 8+ years in code consulting, fire protection design, and performance-based methods, with strong analytical and communication skills.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in code consulting, design of fire suppression and alarm systems, and developing performance-based strategies in a project design environment.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Fire Protection) or related field required.
• Professional Engineer license, NICET certification, or equivalent required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage and implement a wide variety of engineering design and consulting projects.
• Satisfy client needs and expectations by completing tasks on schedule and within budget.
• Coordinate and conduct building and fire code reviews and analyses, including plan reviews and site visits.
• Prepare and peer review project-related technical reports.
• Develop fire protection strategies and performance-based design approaches.
• Communicate effectively with project teams, clients, and authorities.
• Support business development and client relationship management (10–20% of role). Senior consultants expected to foster a seller-doer mentality.
