Colorado Psychiatric seeks an experienced fire protection engineer in Denver to lead safety assessments and design reviews. You will work with clients, prepare technical reports, and develop fire protection drawings for complex projects.
The role requires a BS/MS in fire protection engineering with 6–10 years of experience, licensure, and strong communication skills. Remote or hybrid work is possible depending on experience.
Fire Protection Engineering is all we do, and we love it.
We are looking for someone that loves their work, loves to have fun, wants to learn, and knows enough to be dangerous. An ideal candidate will have a Bachelor of Science or Master of Science Degree in fire protection engineering or a related engineering field and will have 6-10 years of experience, 4 years specifically in fire protection. Experience in consulting is highly desirable and the ability to work in Revit and/or AutoCAD is icing on the cake.
We are a small firm, but don’t call us a startup – we are way past that. It’s our ambition to change the world, but right now we are focusing on changing the way buildings get designed and built.
We are jack-of-all trades fire protection engineers. No two projects are alike; no two clients do the same thing. Our clients include the government, hospitals, commercial, education, owners, architects, and engineers on all sorts of projects. Our project list includes gigantic hospitals and huge airport terminals, but also smaller labs, apartments, and office buildings.
We pride ourselves on being technologically advanced and we’re not afraid to break out a fire model or get all nerdy with agent-based evacuation models.
Our strategic plan revolves around the notion that you are the next owner of the company. We want to do more than pay lip service to work-life balance, and we have dedicated a lot of time and effort to create an environment where we can love our work but let it occupy an appropriate place in our lives.
The ideal candidate for the position will have the following education, credentials and experience:
Each day will be different. Some days you will be in the office all day surrounded by our innovative team. Other days, you’ll bounce from site visit to client meetings to another site visit and then to a project interview. Your responsibilities will include:
Your advancement path, beyond just gaining experience, has at least two paths: (1) project management where you could eventually become our Director of Operations, or other senior leadership, (2) technical directorship if you find a specialty that just suits your soul and you are less fond of accounting.
We offer a competitive salary. Our benefits are adaptable to your needs and include Health Insurance, Dental Insurance and a 401k + matching.
We provide a flexible, alternative schedule. You will have a personal day every two weeks to live your life and enjoy all that Colorado has to offer. Your paid time off is discretionary and not set to an arbitrary limit.
Our office is located in urban Denver, in the bustling RiNo neighborhood. It’s easy to get to by bike, bus, train, llama or on foot; if you really want, you can even drive a good ol’ fashioned car here. Remote or hybrid work is welcome, but the extent of it will be dependent on experience level; candidates with more experience in project management, client management and business development can be afforded more remote opportunities.
