Job summary

HDR is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer for our Building Engineering Services team in North Carolina. The role requires designing and managing fire protection portions of complex projects, coordinating with clients, contractors, and internal disciplines, and ensuring code compliance across drawings and specifications.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering, a PE license, and experience with commercial or institutional facilities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering or related field is required.
  • Professional Engineering license recognized by state licensing boards is required.
  • Previous experience in commercial or institutional facilities is required.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the fire protection portions of complex projects.
  • Interact with clients and contractors to ensure project success.
  • Develop drawings, specifications, and working drawings for fire protection systems.
  • Monitor schedules and budgets; coordinate with staff and other disciplines.
  • Review codes and compile design records for project documentation.
  • Write specifications in collaboration with the Technical Services Department.
