This position offers a contingent work opportunity with Black & Veatch, a global engineering, procurement, construction (EPC), and consulting firm. The role is suited for professionals with industrial design experience and extensive knowledge of fire protection codes, primarily supporting projects like power plants, oil and gas facilities, water treatment plants, and data centers.

Responsibilities

• Understand and apply relevant codes and standards such as IBC, IFC, NFPA.
• Manage and communicate fire protection requirements to clients and team members.
• Generate and review fire protection specifications, hazard analysis, piping and instrument diagrams, hydraulic calculations, and detailed drawings.
• Coordinate with city officials and apply for variances as needed.
• Ensure compliance with company procedures, policies, and safety culture.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Fire Protection, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.

Preferred Qualifications

• At least 8 years of fire protection engineering experience.
• Pass the Fundamentals of Engineering exam and pursue or hold a PE license in Fire Protection or Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience with power plants, oil and gas facilities, water treatment, or data centers.
• Strong communication skills, results-driven, and capable of managing ambiguity and customer focus.

The pay range for this role is approximately $50.89/hour to $67.86/hour. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, and 401K. This is a contract position with an onsite requirement. Applicants must meet pre-employment screening requirements.
