Job summary

CM Mission Critical Engineering seeks a Fire Protection Engineer to design and analyze fire protection systems for critical facilities. You will develop sprinkler and fire alarm layouts, ensure code compliance, and contribute to evacuation plans.

Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams is essential to deliver compliant, reliable solutions. The role requires a Bachelor's degree in fire protection or related field, 1–3 years of experience, and active engagement toward licensure (PE preferred).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in fire protection engineering or a closely related field is required.
  • 1–3 years of fire protection design experience.
  • E.I.T. certification preferred but not required.
  • PE certification or active pursuit of licensure is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Produces detailed construction drawings across all disciplines.
  • Coordinates with internal team members to support project success.
  • Integrates into a technical team and delivers high-quality work.
  • Designs compliant and effective fire protection and fire alarm systems.
  • Assists with submittal reviews, RFIs, and construction-phase documentation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Fire Protection Engineer

Reports to:

Job Summary:

The Fire Protection Engineer is responsible for ensuring structural integrity & safety during fire events, utilizing science & engineering principles to protect people, property, & businesses from fire & smoke. This role involves analyzing fire risks to design specialized systems like sprinklers & alarms, ensuring building code compliance, & developing evacuation plans.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Produces highly detailed, coordinated construction drawings across all disciplines
  • Coordinates with internal team members to support project success
  • Integrates into a highly technical team & consistently delivers high‑quality work
  • Designs compliant & effective fire protection systems & fire alarm systems
  • Assists with submittal reviews, RFIs, & construction‑phase documentation
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Revit &/or AutoCAD
  • Exceptional Microsoft Office skillset
  • Strong attention to detail & accuracy
  • Highly organized & able to manage multiple tasks & deadlines
  • Proven success working with all levels of management
  • Strong analytical & problem‑solving abilities
  • Ability to function effectively in a fast‑paced & occasionally high‑pressure environment
Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in fire protection engineering or a closely related engineering field is required
  • 1–3 years of fire protection design experience
  • E.I.T. certification preferred but not required
  • PE certification or active pursuit of licensure is a plus
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk & working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
  • Ability to travel and move throughout construction sites intermittently as required by project needs.
