Role Overview

Fire Protection Engineers (FPEs) protect lives and property by designing systems that prevent fires and minimize their impact. Responsibilities include designing fire protection systems, analyzing fire behavior, assessing project needs, creating design documents, and ensuring compliance with codes and standards. FPEs also perform inspections and testing to verify system functionality.

Key Responsibilities

• Design fire suppression, detection, alarm, and smoke control systems.
• Perform calculations and support design decisions.
• Develop drawings, specifications, and reports.
• Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards.
• Coordinate with other design professionals.
• Support construction activities, including inspections and testing.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of fire codes, NFPA standards, and fire protection systems.
• Experience with software like Revit, AutoCAD, and fire modeling tools.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering or related field.
• 4-10 years of relevant experience.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or working towards it.
