Job summary

Spectra Tech, Inc. is seeking a fire protection engineer to support new and existing facility designs and modifications. You will perform design analyses, develop P&IDs, and prepare detailed output documents while ensuring NFPA code compliance.

The role includes providing technical support to construction, start-up, testing, and supplier teams, with a focus on mechanical systems, line sizing, pump calculations, and equipment sizing. U.S. citizenship is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in fire protection or mechanical engineering.
• At least 10 years of professional design experience on infrastructure projects.
• U.S. citizen.
• Q Clearance preferred or ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Perform engineering task analysis, walk-downs, design development, and output document production.
• Create plan drawings, elevation drawings, P&IDs, isometrics, riser details, hydraulic calculations.
• Provide technical support to site construction, start-up, testing, suppliers or subcontract personnel.
• Prepare data sheets, statements of work, procurement specifications, design-build specifications, and purchase requisitions.

Job Responsibilities

We are looking for a fire protection engineer to support new and existing facility designs and on an existing facilities in efforts to modify it.

• Primary responsibilities include engineering task analysis, walk-downs, design development and generation of design output documents. This includes: Plan Drawings, Elevation Drawings, Piping Isometrics, Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams, Riser Details, Hydraulic Calculations (manual and electronically using "HASS" software), and Sway Brace Calculations in accordance with NFPA codes and standards.
• Provide technical support to site construction forces, start-up & testing, suppliers or subcontract personnel.
• Prepare Data Sheets, Statements of Work, Procurement Specifications, Design Build Specifications, and Purchase Requisitions.
• Ideal candidate will have eight (8) years recent design experience, with suppression systems design preferred.
• Candidates will have experience/knowledge in mechanical systems, P&ID development, pump calculations, line sizing, and mechanical equipment sizing calculations.
• Candidate must have a working knowledge of NFPA Codes and Standards.

Qualifications

• Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited institution in fire protection or mechanical engineering, and at least 10 years of professional experience in the design and construction of infrastructure projects.
• Must be a U.S. citizen
• Q Clearance is preferred or the ability to gain one.
