Job summary

Shambaugh & Son is seeking a Fire Sprinkler Designer for Northstar projects. You will design Fire Protection Systems, create hydraulic calculations, and prepare pipe lists for pre-fabrication, working from contract documents and specifications.

The role requires experience with AutoCAD, HydraCAD, and AutoSPRINK, and involves BIM modeling and field surveying to support fabrication and coordination across trades. Onsite work and extended hours may be required.

Qualifications

• Associate or Technical Degree in a technical or business discipline.
• Fire protection design experience preferred.
• NICET certification preferred.
• AutoCAD and/or HydraCAD experience preferred.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Excellent communicator with strong organizational skills.
• Regular and reliable attendance, including extended hours and weekends as required.

Responsibilities

• Design and layout of Fire Sprinkler systems.
• Read, analyze and interpret contract documents, including all disciplines of construction drawings and specifications.
• Write, plan, coordinate, and make presentations to individuals and groups.
• Work with and comprehend mathematical concepts including hydraulic calculations and project cost analysis.
• Develop positive and ongoing relationships with customers to ensure satisfaction.
• Provide fire sprinkler designs with AutoCAD, HydraCAD, and AutoSPRINK.
• Responsible for BIM modeling and field surveying.
• Provide lists for fabrication and coordinate between the trades.
• Other duties as assigned.
