Job summary

The National Fire Sprinkler Association seeks a Codes and Standards Specialist to advance acceptance and proper use of fire sprinkler systems through engagement with model codes, standards bodies, and code officials nationwide.

In this role you will represent NFSA on technical committees, conduct in-depth research, develop written materials, and deliver training that directly impacts public safety, with a focus on water-based fire sprinkler systems.

Qualifications

• 3+ years as authority having jurisdiction or code official.
• ICC certification: Commercial Fire Sprinkler Plans Examiner or Commercial Fire Sprinkler Inspector
• NICET water-based layout Level 1

Responsibilities

• Represent NFSA on codes and standards committees (NFPA, ICC, IBC, IFC).
• Research, analyze, and interpret fire protection codes and standards for water-based sprinkler systems.
• Prepare technical position papers, guidance documents, and educational resources.
• Develop and deliver training programs for code officials, AHJs, fire departments, contractors, and building owners.
• Build and maintain relationships with AHJs, elected officials, industry partners, and allied organizations.
