Job summary

Johnson Controls, Inc. in Tempe, AZ is seeking a Field Project Manager for our Fire division to lead complex fire alarm, security, and communications installation projects in commercial, educational, healthcare, industrial, and military facilities.

You will establish local project offices, define scope, assess risk, allocate resources, and manage schedule, cost, safety, and quality to ensure customer satisfaction and on-time delivery. Regular updates to management and customers are expected.

Qualifications

• 5 years’ installation experience in Fire, Electrical, or Security systems.
• PMI PMP certification within two years of employment.
• NICET Level II within one year of employment.
• Proficient in MS Office; Excel macros experience desired.
• Frequent local travel expected.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex fire alarm, security, and communications installation projects.
• Set up local project offices, define scope, risk, and methodology.
• Manage schedule, cost, safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.
• Present updates to management/customers and ensure on-time, in-scope closures.
• Coordinate with AHJ and ensure codes and standards are followed.

What you will do

As a Field Project Manager, for our Fire division, you will lead complex fire alarm, security, and communications installation projects in commercial, educational, healthcare, industrial, and military facilities. Responsible for setup of local project offices, project scope definition, risk identification, project methodology, resource allocation, and facilitation. Manages schedule, cost, safety, quality, and customer expectations/satisfaction. Presents to management and/or customers on project updates, project cycle, and expected results. Ensures projects are closed on time and in scope.

How you will do it

• Oversees and communicates project progression from inception to completion including design, permits, material delivery, labor schedules, and field installation.
• Develops a comprehensive project plan to meet schedules and budgets. Conducts Work in Progress meetings.
• Understands and follows all published codes, standards, and unique project specifications.
• Ensures AHJ requirements and departmental/SOX procedures are followed.
• Coordinates change orders and works toward overall margin improvement on every job.

What we look for

Required

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certificate or diploma in a related field (Fire & Life Safety, Electrical/Electronic; Security). Certification in Fire Alarm Systems preferred.
• 5 years’ installation experience in Fire, Electrical, or Security systems.
• Expectation that Project Management Professional certification will be obtained within two years of employment in the position.
• NICET Level II must be obtained within one year of employment.
• Proficient in MS Office applications (Excel, Project). Ability to create Excel spreadsheets, reference data in other spreadsheets, and create macros is required.
• Available for frequent local travel.

HIRING SALARY RANGE:

$88,100. - $121,000. (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
