Buncombe County Government is seeking an Assistant Fire Marshal to support fire prevention through inspections, public education, and code enforcement. The role involves determining fire causes and origins, and working with partner agencies in both routine and emergency situations.

The position requires a high school diploma and at least three years of fire service experience, with NC certifications to be completed within specified timeframes. A valid NC driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent and 3+ years of fire service/Investigation experience.
• Valid NC driver’s license and ongoing certifications.
• Maintains required fire service certifications per NC regulations.

Responsabilités

• Conduct inspections of commercial structures and multi-family housing for compliance with fire and life safety regulations.
• Review building plans to ensure fire safety measures are included (sprinkler, alarms).
• Present fire safety and prevention programs and fire education.
• Enforce fire codes for new construction and existing buildings for occupant safety.
