Florida Department of Financial Services seeks a Fire Protection Specialist to conduct statutory inspections across a multi-county area, enforcing fire prevention laws and coordinating with the Regional Supervisor. You will inspect state-owned buildings, review plans, and prepare formal reports.

The role requires knowledge of fire safety codes, plus experience with building inspections and investigative procedures.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of verbal and written communication principles.
• Ability to read and interpret construction documents, plans and specifications.
• Familiarity with Florida statutes and codes governing fire prevention.
• Ability to work in confined spaces and at elevated locations.
• Ability to perform under varying weather conditions and exertion.
• Ability to use problem-solving techniques in inspections.
• Capable of working as part of a team and independently.
• Able to safely operate a motor vehicle.

Responsabilités

• Plan, organize, coordinate, and administer statutory inspection activities across a multi-county area.
• Perform fire safety inspections of state buildings and facilities.
• Enforce fire prevention laws, codes and standards.
• Conduct inspections of fire protection and suppression systems; review occupancy/renovation plans.
• Prepare written reports per Florida statutes and agency policies.
• Investigate and document violations and testify as needed.
