The City of Bellevue is seeking an Assistant Fire Marshal to act as the technical assistant to the fire marshal. You will interpret and enforce the city’s fire, building, and municipal codes while performing administrative, technical, and supervisory tasks related to fire prevention.

Responsibilities include supervising staff, guiding projects, performing inspections, and supporting plan reviews or investigations. Strong communication and leadership are essential for success in this role.

Competenze

• Graduation from an accredited four-year college with a related degree is desired.
• Four or more years of progressively responsible experience in fire prevention, code enforcement and/or investigation, with supervisory experience.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience acceptable.

• Manages and prioritizes staff work activities and assignments.
• Reviews, guides, and approves projects; provides performance feedback.
• Leads citizen relations, safety, and problem solving for prevention staff.
• Responds to inquiries on code interpretation and violations.
• Supervises inspections of structures for code compliance and issues stop work orders when needed.
• Coordinates with building officials for fire code reviews and occupancy permits.
• Responds to and investigates significant fires and leads investigations as needed.
• Provides public education in fire prevention through talks and demonstrations.
• Maintains records and prepares reports; recommends policy improvements.
