Prince George County Fire and EMS seeks a Fire Medic to respond to emergencies, provide basic or advanced life support, and engage in active fire suppression. The role requires preparedness to operate diverse firefighting and medical equipment while maintaining detailed records and coordinating with other responders.

Ideal candidates hold Virginia driver’s license and relevant certifications ( CPR, NIMS, ICS, EMT-Basic, Firefighter II, Haz‑Mat).

Qualifications

• Possession of valid Virginia driver’s license and driving record acceptable for county vehicles.
• CPR, NIMS, ICS 100/200/700/800, EVOC 1-3, EMT-Basic (ALS preferred), State Firefighter II and Haz-Mat Operations certifications.
• Associates degree preferred; education/experience equivalent to high school is acceptable with firefighting/EMS training.

Responsibilities

• Respond to emergency calls and provide basic or advanced life support.
• Engage in active fire suppression and maintain detailed records.
• Operate a variety of firefighting and EMS equipment; coordinate with other emergency services.
• Perform scene size-up and risk assessment to protect patients and responders.
• Demonstrate ongoing professional development and maintain required certifications.
