Job summary

Wake Forest University is seeking a Fire and Life Safety Technician to troubleshoot, inspect, test, and maintain fire alarm and life-safety systems across the campus. The role ensures code compliance, conducts preventive maintenance, and supports emergency response and training activities.

The technician will coordinate with contractors, review installations, and maintain detailed records of inspections and maintenance tasks, ensuring reliable campus safety operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with 3–5 years in fire safety systems.
• Knowledge of NFPA, OSHA and local fire/life-safety codes.
• Valid driver’s license and university auto policy compliance.
• Able to work independently and in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and test fire protection and detection systems for compliance.
• Troubleshoot and arrange repairs or replacements of faulty equipment.
• Inspect buildings for life-safety and fire-safety compliance.
• Respond to emergencies and assess fire/safety threats.
• Maintain extinguishers, alarms, and sprinklers; manage panels.
• Coordinate with contractors and review work for code compliance.
• Assist in emergency procedures and training requirements.
• Maintain accurate records and prepare inspection reports.
