Job summary

The University of Louisville is seeking a Fire & Life Safety Technician III at Belknap Campus to install, inspect, and maintain smoke and fire suppression systems and related life safety equipment. This full-time, on-site role requires NFPA knowledge, on-call readiness, and the ability to troubleshoot alarms, perform preventive maintenance, and respond to campus emergencies.

Qualifications

Associate's degree or Vocational Training in Fire Science/Electronics.
Two years of experience in maintenance of fire and/or life safety equipment.
Kentucky certification to inspect and maintain sprinkler and/or fire alarm systems.
Grinell DCP-200 and/or Grinell Mini-plex 1000 systems certification.
Valid driver's license and insurability through University.
Pre-employment physical required.

Responsibilities

Install, repair, and inspect smoke and fire suppression systems and life safety equipment.
Inspect, test, and repair fire alarm wiring, panels, devices, and systems.
Troubleshoot alarms and respond to life safety emergencies and calls.
Maintain UPS systems, security panels and card readers.
Adhere to NFPA, UFC, IBC/IFC codes and AHJ requirements.
Participate in standby/on-call rotations as required.
