Job summary

Duke Health is seeking a Fire & Life Safety Specialist to support the Fire & Life Safety Division in developing and managing QA programs for Joint Commission Life Safety and Environment of Care. The role covers on-site and off-site facilities, including testing of extinguishers, alarms, sprinklers, and hood systems.

You will assist with training employees and students, coordinate maintenance schedules, and help ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and Joint Commission standards across

Qualifications

• Must know Joint Commission Life Safety and Environment of Care standards.
• Familiar with NFPA 101 and NFPA 99.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and data/report generation.

Responsibilities

• Conduct Joint Commission Environment of Care (EoC) and Life Safety audits per NFPA codes.
• Prepare reports for Joint Commission Accredited facilities.
• Assist in scheduling, testing, maintenance, and invoice coordination for fire safety systems.
• Inspect and test fire alarm systems, extinguishers, hydrants, sprinklers, and standpipes.
• Maintain records of inspections and ensure timely hazard abatement.
