Job summary

Duke Health is seeking a Fire & Life Safety Specialist to assist in QA programs for Joint Commission Life Safety and Environment of Care across Duke Health System facilities.

You will support testing of fire alarm systems, sprinkler inspections, and hydrants, coordinate schedules, and help train staff in fire prevention and emergency procedures, ensuring compliance with NFPA standards. This role requires flexibility and after-hours availability across campus properties.

Qualifications

• Must have knowledge of Joint Commission Life Safety and Environment of Care standards.
• Experience in training and communicating safety policies is a plus.
• Familiarity with NFPA Life Safety Code 101 and 99.

Responsibilities

• Conduct and document Joint Commission Life Safety and EOC audits per NFPA standards.
• Prepare reports for assigned facilities and coordinate testing/maintenance schedules.
• Assist in fire safety inspections, hydrant and sprinkler testing, and training.
• Maintain records of safety inspections and coordinate with divisions across Duke Health.
