Fire Investigator - Principal Consultant (Finance)
Certified Fire Investigator / Certified Fire & Explosion Investigator (CFI/CFEI) responsible for analyzing and interpreting fire and explosion scenes.
- Associates degree in a field commensurate with duties. (Experience may be accepted and converted on a case-by-case basis to meet educational standards.)
- Bachelor's degree or higher preferred.
- Minimum of CFEI certification through NAFI or CFI certification through IAAI (preferred).
- Familiarity with NFPA 921.
- Meet all requirements for qualification as a fire investigator per NFPA 1033.
- 10 years of public and/or private fire investigative experience, actively engaged in origin and cause analysis.
- Previous expert testimony or deposition experience is highly preferred but not required, provided there is proof of completion of NFA or an equivalent testimony class.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to deliver fast and accurate turnaround times.
- Ability to handle multiple projects and manage high-stress periods, especially during peak demand.
- Hands-on proficiency, including climbing ladders and roofs, and crawling in tight spaces as necessary for investigations.
- Adherence to OCI's/C&C Safety Protocol guidelines when working on projects, unless significant hazards are identified.
- Compliance with all standards for pre-employment physical examinations.
- Possession of a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Willingness to travel and work a flexible schedule during peak periods.
- Ability to work remotely from a home office with reliable, high-speed internet.

- Perform analysis to determine the cause and origin of fires and explosions.
- Convey findings clearly through reports.
- Defend opinions in court or litigious settings when necessary.
- Complete all required training and development programs.
- Mentor and train subordinate investigators.
