Robeson County Local Government seeks a Fire Inspector to perform skilled inspection work of commercial establishments for compliance with the North Carolina fire code and fire prevention standards, review construction plans, and assist in emergency response.
Under supervision, the role requires a high school diploma, 3 years of firefighting or related experience, and the ability to obtain Level I Fire Inspector certification within 2 years with Level II/III milestones as pay grades change.
Under general supervision, performs skilled inspection work in conducting fire and life safety inspection of new and existing commercial establishments to determine general compliance with the North Carolina fire Code and Fire prevention standards. Work involves reviewing and approving building construction and modification in conformance with fire code regulations, investigating fires to determine cause and origin, investigating complaints of fire safety hazards, maintaining records, and assisting in response to emergency situations. Reports to the Director, Emergency Management/Fire Marshal.
