Qualifications

  • Any AS/AA degree from an accredited institution, preferably in fire or EMS fields.
  • Relevant experience and certifications including Florida Firefighter Minimum Standards.

Job Summary

Responsible for inspections, re-inspections, and change-of-occupancy inspections for commercial properties. Conducts fire education and ensures compliance with laws, ordinances, and regulations related to fire prevention and hazardous materials.

Responsibilities
  • Perform fire prevention inspections for various buildings, including schools, healthcare, childcare, and public facilities, ensuring compliance with Florida statutes and fire codes.
  • Inspect hazardous material storage and review blueprints for code compliance.
  • Conduct technical construction inspections and investigate fire safety complaints.
  • Issue corrective orders and perform follow-up inspections.
  • Develop and deliver fire prevention training and community outreach programs.
  • Maintain records, reports, and documentation related to inspections and compliance.
  • Assist in emergency responses and safety procedures.
Qualifications
  • Any AS/AA degree from an accredited institution, preferably in fire or EMS fields.
  • Relevant experience and certifications, including Florida Firefighter Minimum Standards, EMT or Paramedic, Fire Safety Inspector I, and others as specified.
  • Valid Florida Driver’s License and ability to pass background and drug screening.
Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of fire prevention principles, codes, and building construction.
  • Strong communication, inspection, and enforcement skills.
  • Physical ability to perform inspections in various environments, including heights and hazardous conditions.
Work Environment

Includes office work, outdoor inspections, and emergency response, with exposure to noise, chemicals, weather, and potentially hazardous situations.
