Qualifications

Job description

JOIN OUR TEAM AS A FIREFIGHTER SUPPORT IV - PERSONNEL OFFICER!

Under the direction of the Division Chief of Personnel, this position involves planning, coordinating, directing, and supervising activities within the Fire Rescue Personnel Division. The role includes specialized administrative work such as hiring, onboarding, FMLA, evaluations, workers' compensation, and oversight of related functions as directed by the Personnel Chief or their designee.

The responsibilities include supervising personnel functions, process improvements, monitoring performance, and preparing reports related to workflow and workload. The role also involves ensuring compliance with legal requirements and government reporting regulations, managing examination processes, processing personnel transactions, maintaining personnel records, participating in interviews, and overseeing data and reports within HR systems like NEOGOV, Tele-Staff, and Firehouse.

Additional duties include participating in position audits, pay surveys, responding to alarms, and performing related work as required.

Qualifications and Skills
  • Knowledge of modern firefighting, rescue, emergency medical services, and related laws.
  • Ability to perform technical work independently and establish effective relationships with various stakeholders.
  • Effective communication skills, record-keeping, report preparation, and training presentation abilities.
  • Knowledge of public personnel administration, relevant laws, and software like Microsoft Office and Firehouse.
Physical and Educational Requirements
  • Must meet physical requirements for State Firefighter Certification.
  • Graduation from an accredited college with an Associate's degree and seven years of full-time firefighting experience, including two years in personnel management.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Valid Florida driver's license.
  • Certificate of Compliance from the Florida Bureau of Fire Standards and Training.
  • State of Florida Officer II certification.
  • Current EMT or Paramedic certification.
