The City of Dickinson is seeking skilled Firefighter Paramedics to join our team. This role combines advanced emergency medical care as a paramedic with essential firefighting duties.

You will respond to medical emergencies, provide life-saving interventions, and participate in fire suppression and rescue operations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required; an Associate’s degree or higher is preferred.
• Nationally Registered Paramedic (NRP) certification is required.
• North Dakota Paramedic Licensure must be obtained upon hire if out-of-state.
• Required certifications include: AHA BLS CPR, AHA ACLS, AHA PALS, NAEMT PHTLS, NAEMT AMLS.
• NIMS/ICS certifications: ICS 100, 200, 700, 800.

Responsibilities

• Respond to emergency medical calls and provide ALS or BLS as certified.
• Perform patient assessments, create treatment plans, and deliver critical care.
• Document patient care accurately in pre-hospital reports.
• Stabilize and transport patients to medical facilities with ongoing care.
• Coordinate as lead paramedic on scene with other responders.
• Assist with fire suppression, extrication, hazmat response, and rescue operations.
• Participate in fire prevention, inspections, and community outreach.
• Maintain EMS and fire equipment and ensure readiness.
• Collaborate with firefighters and paramedics in high-stress situations.
• Engage in ongoing training to maintain certifications and stay current.

Job description

The City of Dickinson is seeking skilled Firefighter Paramedics to join our team. This role combines advanced emergency medical care as a paramedic with essential firefighting duties. You will respond to medical emergencies, provide life-saving interventions, and participate in fire suppression and rescue operations. The ideal candidate is committed to ensuring the community's safety and well-being while working in a dynamic, high-pressure environment.

Salary: $71,781 per year, depending on qualifications

Schedule: Rotating 24-hour (48/96) shift

Key Responsibilities:

• Respond to emergency medical calls, delivering ALS or BLS based on certification level.
• Conduct patient assessments, develop treatment plans, and provide critical care (e.g., cardiac monitoring, airway management, IV therapy, trauma care).
• Document patient care in pre-hospital medical reports accurately and in a timely manner.
• Stabilize and transport patients safely to medical facilities, ensuring ongoing care.
• Act as the lead paramedic on scene, coordinating with other responders to manage patient care and logistics.
• Assist with fire suppression, vehicle extrication, hazardous materials response, and rescue operations.
• Participate in fire prevention activities, inspections, and community outreach programs.
• Maintain EMS and fire equipment, ensuring readiness for emergency response.
• Collaborate effectively with other firefighters and paramedics in high-stress situations.
• Engage in ongoing training to maintain required certifications and stay current with industry standards.
