Job summary

Qualifications

• UFRA certification required.
• Two years non-teaching firefighting experience in a fire department.
• Certified Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) required.

Job description

1. 1. Effectively prepare and teach classes to facilitate student learning.
2. 2. Develop, distribute, and adhere to current course outlines and/or syllabi.
3. 3. Demonstrate a depth of understanding in the field of fire fighting and emergency services
4. 4. Attend required training and department meetings, as invited.
5. 5. Demonstrate and support professional commitment to division, School, and College mission and values.
6. 6. Maintain a supportive attitude toward work, students, colleagues, and administration.
7. 7. Support College policies.
8. 8. Other job-related duties as required.
9. 9. Becomes familiar with, and abides by, all college policies with immediate priority given to those policies that govern interactions with colleagues, staff, administrators, and departments throughout the organization
10. 10. Maintains professional etiquette in communications with students, staff, faculty, and administrators
11. 11. Provides appropriate and timely feedback for all assignments
12. 12. Returns graded assignments in a timely fashion per department standards
13. 13. Maintains student attendance records (for Financial Aid purposes) and grades
14. 14. Conducts a variety of appropriate evaluations of student performance
15. 15 Informs students of progress-to-date periodically and assigns and submits grades by published deadlines
16. 16. Assists in maintaining a safe and mutually respectful instructional environment
17. 17. Prepares and submits incident reports to Dean of Student Services for inappropriate student behavior as defined by the Code of Student Rights and Responsibilities Policy
18. 18. Maintains professional and collegial behavior
19. 19. Handles/responds to student concerns/complaints, and responds to student communications and inquiries promptly (generally within 1-2 days)
20. 20. Maintains professional appearance as defined by the discipline and/or College procedure
21. 21. Completes all required employee trainings
22. 22. Knows and enforces FERPA guidelines
23. 23. Provides ADA accommodations as requested
