Job summary

Metro Safety & Fire, Inc. is seeking a Shop Technician - Cylinder Testing in Portland to support field service and front office. The role involves stocking tested cylinders, maintaining inventory, and performing extinguisher service for walk-in clients.

Training programs are provided to develop proficiency in fire safety practices. The position emphasizes compliance with NFPA 10, completing the Portland FIT in 12 weeks, and pursuing ICC certification within 1–2 years, with opportunities to teach

Qualifications

• Servicing fire extinguishers to manufacturer specifications and NFPA 10 standard.
• Must complete Portland FIT (in 12 weeks) and work toward ICC Portable Fire Extinguisher Technician certification (1-2 years).
• We offer a complete training program to learn the fire/life safety industry.

Responsibilities

• Support field service and front office by stocking tested cylinders and maintaining the fire equipment inventory.
• Provide fire extinguisher service for walk-in clients.
• Use Inspection Software and Microsoft Office to forecast production demand and manage inventory.
• Will earn Portland FIT within 12 weeks and pursue ICC certification within 1–2 years.
• Teach/present our in-house Fire Extinguisher Training Course.
