The San Bernardino County Fire Protection District is recruiting for Fire Equipment Technician I positions to perform entry-level warehouse, delivery, and logistical support duties in a computerized environment. Incumbents are responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records, accounting for supplies, and requisitioning, issuing, and delivering equipment and materials.
Duties include assisting Firefighters with PPE and uniform selection; performing minor equipment repairs; station order fulfillment; and supporting general Service Center operations. Positions are also responsible for picking up, transporting, and delivering supplies, equipment, and mail between the main office and warehouse in San Bernardino and fire stations throughout assigned divisions, including remote locations such as Needles, Parker, Trona, Ontario, and all locations in between.
Work requires frequent lifting and loading of heavy equipment into and out of box trucks and large pickup trucks. Incumbents operate computers, phones, and office equipment to determine supply needs, process requisitions, collect requested items from the warehouse, and ensure accurate delivery and documentation. Fire Equipment Technicians may be required to work on-call to provide logistical support to fire incidents as needed in support of District operations.

Experience: Three (3) months of full‑time equivalent experience in a warehouse environment, including receiving, storing, issuing, stocking, and inventorying supplies and materials in a computerized supply system (such as a large warehouse or large retail warehouse). Experience must include order processing using computer programs and performing courier duties involving delivery and/or pickup services for multiple daily route locations, including determining delivery schedules and efficient route sequences.

License: Current possession of a CA Class C driver license. The ideal candidate will possess prior experience with inventory or procurement/purchasing systems. SAP experience is also desirable.
