Job summary

The Fire Shop Associate at Thompson Safety supports the daily operations of a fire protection branch, ensuring equipment, tools, inventory, and supplies are properly maintained and organized for technicians. The role works closely with Service Technicians, Project Managers, Operations Managers, and other team members to keep the shop running safely and efficiently.

This role requires a High School Diploma or GED, basic mechanical aptitude, and the ability to read work orders and document work

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Experience in a shop, warehouse, fire protection, or maintenance preferred.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and familiarity with hand tools and shop equipment.
  • Able to read work orders and follow instructions with accurate documentation.
  • Learn new computer skills; basic Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook desirable.
  • Valid driver's license; ability to pass drug screen and background check.

Responsibilities

  • Receives, organizes, and stocks parts/products into inventory on a daily basis.
  • Keeps track of product quantities and works with purchasing to reorder items as needed.
  • Maintains a clean, safe, orderly, and secure shop environment; ensures walkways are clear and materials are stored safely.
  • Pulls product and could support running items to customers and/or job sites as needed.
  • Assists with inventory counts and maintains accurate records of where products/parts are allocated in the field.
  • May operate a forklift and/or pallet jack to receive shipments.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
