Job summary

Sitka, City and Borough of (AK) Fire Department seeks a dedicated EMS/Fire Captain to operate and maintain emergency response apparatus and perform firefighting, EMS, search and rescue, and dive rescue when responding to calls for service. You will supervise EMS activities, work independently on assigned duties, and support department goals with a focus on safety and readiness.

Qualifications

• Minimum qualifications include a High School diploma or GED; preferred experience in firefighting and EMS.
• Firefighter I certification from IFSA/Proboard; EMT license (I/II/III); Alaska driver’s license.
• ICs 100 and ICs 700 from FEMA; equivalent combinations accepted.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain emergency response ground apparatus and vehicles.
• Perform firefighting and EMS duties, including patient assessment and transport.
• Participate in search and rescue and dive rescue as needed.
• Maintain required maintenance documentation and equipment readiness.
