Qualifications

• Current unrestricted certification as an Emergency Medical Technician (National Registry or Virginia Certification).
• Knowledge of fire and emergency medical services (essential life support), education standards, and scope of practice.
• Knowledge of competency-based educational techniques.
• Knowledge of standardized patient concepts, processes, and practices.
• Knowledge of curricula and accreditation standards.

Responsibilities

• Instruct and guide fire and emergency medical services Basic Life Support (BLS) students and firefighter students through psychomotor skills stages.
• Provide simulation activities, tutoring, and remedial assistance to students.
• Maintain, inventory, and replace or reset assigned equipment and lab spaces.
• May serve as lead lab instructor/mentor to orient new lab instructors and perform other duties as assigned.
