Job summary

County Emergency Communications seeks fire dispatchers to coordinate responses to fires, rescues, and hazardous conditions. You will receive incident information, document details, alert resources, and maintain communications with responding crews.

Working indoors at communications workstations, you will monitor radios, verify locations, and follow established response plans while meeting eligibility criteria and shifting coverage for major incidents.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or commonly required.

Responsibilities

• Receive and document reports of fires, rescues, alarms, and hazardous conditions
• Verify incident locations and risks
• Alert stations and dispatch apparatus
• Monitor radio channels and incident status
• Relay information about occupants and hazards
• Process requests for resources through established procedures
• Coordinate mutual-aid communications
• Record dispatch times and unit movements
