Job summary

911 Emergency Communications in MC Coy seeks qualified Fire Dispatchers to coordinate responses to fires, rescues, hazards, and other emergencies. You will receive incident information, alert resources, and maintain communication with responding crews from a fixed dispatch center.

A high school diploma or equivalent is commonly required; some roles may require fire dispatch certification or EMS training. Schedules may include overnight shifts, weekends, holidays, overtime, and extra coverage

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Fire dispatch certification or EMS training may be required for certain assignments.
• Comfort with computer systems, maps, and radio communication is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Receive and document reports of fires, rescues, alarms, and hazardous conditions.
• Verify incident locations, access information, and reported risks.
• Alert stations and dispatch apparatus using approved response assignments.
• Monitor radio channels, unit availability, and incident status.
• Relay information about occupants, hazards, and changing conditions.
• Process requests for additional resources through established procedures.
• Coordinate mutual-aid communications when assigned.
• Record dispatch times, unit movements, and significant incident updates.
