Job summary

911 Emergency Communications seeks qualified Fire Dispatchers to coordinate responses to fires, rescues, hazardous conditions, and other emergencies. You will receive incident information, activate appropriate units, and maintain clear radio contact with responding crews.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent; some roles require fire dispatch or emergency medical dispatch training. Work may involve overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed by the department.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Fire dispatch certification or related training may be required for certain assignments.
• Comfort with computers, accurate data entry, maps, and radio communications.

Responsibilities

• Receive and document reports of fires, rescues, alarms, and hazardous conditions.
• Verify incident locations, access information, and reported risks.
• Alert stations and dispatch apparatus using approved response assignments.
• Monitor radio channels, unit availability, and incident status.
• Relay information about occupants, hazards, and changing conditions.
• Process requests for additional resources through established procedures.
• Coordinate mutual-aid communications when assigned.
• Record dispatch times, unit movements, and significant incident updates.
