Job summary

Johnson Controls, Inc. is seeking a Fire Alarm Inspector to perform routine inspections, testing, service, and preventative maintenance on electrical, sprinkler or suppression life safety product lines. The role requires working with existing and new customer bases, documenting work, and adhering to safety policies.

A valid high school diploma and NICET I within 1 year are preferred. You will inspect systems, follow written and verbal instructions, and be able to carry equipment up to 70lbs

Qualifications

  • 1 year of Installation or Service Experience in testing and inspecting Fire Alarm Equipment.
  • Self-starter with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to obtain NICET I within 1 year.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect electrical, sprinkler or suppression life safety systems and perform maintenance.
  • Test fire alarm systems for existing and new customers and document results.
  • Maintain documentation of work using provided tools.
  • Follow safety policies and instructions and work in a safe manner.
  • Lift and carry equipment up to 70 pounds and work at heights.

What you will do:

Inspectors are responsible for conducting routine inspections, testing, service, and preventative maintenance on Electrical, Sprinkler or Suppression life safety product lines as well as similar competitive manufacturers’ product lines.

How you will do it:
  • Test and inspect fire alarm systems with existing and new customer base.

  • Maintain proper documentation for work performed using tools provided.

  • Must adhere to company safety policies and procedures

  • Follow verbal and written instructions.

  • Carry/move equipment and tools weighing up to 70lbs.

  • Perform work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions; such as climbing ladders, scaffolding, and high lift equipment.

  • Must be able to work alternative shifts or weekends to meet customer needs.

  • Must perform all duties in a safe and professional manner & maintain a clean and safe work area.

What we look for
Required:
  • 1 year of Installation or Service Experience in testing and inspecting Fire Alarm Equipment.

  • Self-starter that can work with little or no supervision.

  • Strong organizational skills, positive attitude, and the ability to learn quickly.

  • Capable of performing physical labor.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.

  • Valid Driver’s License with good driving record.

  • Ability to work well with others.

  • Obtain NICET I within 1 year of employment.

  • Basic computer skills – Microsoft (Excel, Word, Outlook) along with Smartphone skills.


HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $18.22 - 25.10 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience,knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with marketdata.)
