Job summary

Johnson Controls in San Diego is seeking a Fire Detection Inspector 1 to test and inspect fire alarm systems for a diverse customer base. This role involves physical work, adherence to safety policies, and the ability to carry tools up to 70 lbs. You will document work and follow instructions to ensure quality service.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• NICET I within 1 year of employment preferred.
• Valid Driver’s License with good driving record required.
• Experience installing or servicing fire alarm equipment is a plus.
• Basic computer skills (Excel, Word, Outlook) and smartphone proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Test and inspect fire alarm systems for existing and new customers.
• Maintain proper documentation of work performed using company tools.
• Adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
• Follow verbal and written instructions.
• Carry/move equipment and tools up to 70 lbs.
• Work in ladders, scaffolding, and high lift equipment as needed.
• Be open to alternative shifts or weekends to meet customer needs.
• Perform duties safely and maintain a clean work area.

How You Will Do It

• Test and inspect fire alarm systems with existing and new customer base.
• Maintain proper documentation for work performed using tools provided
• Must adhere to company safety policies and procedures
• Follow verbal and written instructions
• Carry/move equipment and tools weighing up to 70lbs
• Perform work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions; such as climbing ladders, scaffolding, and high lift equipment
• Must be able to work alternative shifts or weekends to meet customer needs
• Must perform all duties in a safe and professional manner & maintain a clean and safe work area

Required

What we look for

• Installation or Service Experience in testing and inspecting Fire Alarm Equipment.
• Self-starter that can work with little or no supervision
• Strong organizational skills, positive attitude, and the ability to learn quickly
• Capable of performing physical labor
• Excellent communication skills
• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Valid Driver’s License with good driving record
• Ability to work well with others
• Obtain NICET I within 1 year of employment
• Basic computer skills – Microsoft (Excel, Word, Outlook) along with SmartPhone skills

HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $21.00 - $28.89 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.) This position includes a competitive benefits package. The posted salary range reflects the target compensation for this role.
