Fire Alarm Construction Manager

The Fire Alarm Construction Manager is part of Johnson Controls’ Building Technologies & Solutions business. The role involves managing daily operations of construction installation projects, coaching technicians, ordering materials, and monitoring financials. The manager works in the field up to 50% of the time visiting project sites and customers.

Responsibilities

• Provide vision, leadership and direction to the installation department.
• Set and manage productivity and performance expectations for direct reports.
• Motivate employees and maintain a positive work environment using management best practices.
• Ensure safety and industry training is current and documented for all technicians.
• Maintain installer schedules and track hours assigned to projects.
• Work with Operations to complete work and provide accurate project status updates during WIP meetings.
• Conduct regular site safety walkthroughs and EHS evaluations; investigate accidents.
• Assist in interviewing and evaluating employees and apprentices.
• Develop business strategies and implement action plans to meet corporate goals.
• Set goals for subordinates, communicate expectations, and review performance.
• Attend construction meetings and interface with end‑users, architects, and general contractors.

Required Qualifications

• 5‑10 years of management experience in Fire Alarm Installation in a commercial environment.
• Certifications in Fire Alarm, Access Controls, and CCTV.
• Knowledge of P&L.
• Experience with Excel and other Microsoft products.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
• Proficiency in personal computers and Windows operating systems.

Preferred Qualifications

• NICET certification level 3 or greater.
• Project Management experience.
• Estimating experience.

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary range: $105,000 – $132,000, based on experience.
• Competitive bonus plan tied to individual, group, and corporate performance.
