Job summary

Williamson County ESD #1 seeks a Fire Chief to lead strategic direction, operations, and community engagement for a growing district in the Austin area. The ideal candidate will drive operational excellence, fiscal responsibility, and professional development within a collaborative leadership culture.

Residency in Williamson or Travis County is required, with a 90-day relocation window. Compensation ranges from $160,000 to $175,000 plus benefits; take-home vehicle and comprehensive coverage

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressively responsible fire/EMS experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
• Texas Advanced Firefighter Certification or out-of-state equivalent.
• Fire Officer II or greater; CFO designation preferred; EFO/CFE preferred.
• EMS certifications and leadership credentials preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and shape the fire department's strategy, operations, and budget.
• Engage with community, District leaders, and regional partners.
• Mentor future fire service leaders and foster accountability and innovation.
• Oversee emergency operations and financial priorities; represent the department publicly.
