Job summary

City of Live Oak seeks a Fire Chief to lead the Fire Department, directing operations, emergency medical response, prevention, and public education. You will set goals, policy, and ensure compliance with laws and standards while maintaining readiness and fiscal stewardship.

You will supervise all department activities, oversee budgeting, training programs, equipment readiness, and coordinate inspections and investigations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Minimum 5 years firefighting experience and 5 years supervisory experience.
• Must possess Florida driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Directs and supervises all activities of the Fire Department.
• Provides for training and drills for firefighters and captains.
• Stays abreast of new developments in Fire Science and communicates same to personnel.
• Prepares and manages annual budget. Keeps records and makes reports.
• Makes recommendations on repair and replacement of equipment.
• Coordinates or performs fire prevention inspections and public information lectures.
• Coordinates or performs arson investigations on fires of a suspicious origin.
• Responds to all fire alarms.
• Performs related duties and responsibilities as required.
