Job summary

Chatham County Fire Department seeks a Fire Captain to lead frontline operations, guide personnel, and respond to a wide range of emergencies with professionalism and integrity.

Ideal candidates have 6+ years in municipal firefighting, 6+ years as certified frontline firefighter, 2+ years as pumper/aerial operator, 2 years as Fire Lieutenant, and instructor experience; Georgia Class F license and Georgia Certified Firefighter (or ability to obtain within 30 days).

Qualifications

• 6 years of continuous, full-time experience in municipal or county career fire department.
• 6 years of full-time paid experience as a certified front-line structural firefighter
• 2 years of full-time paid experience as a pumper and aerial driver/operator
• 2 years as a full-time paid Fire Lieutenant of an operational fire company
• 2 years of experience instructing fire related topics that demonstrate the required knowledge, abilities, behaviors, and traits to successfully perform the essential function of a lead fire instructor
• Valid Georgia Class F driver’s license (or equivalent)
• Georgia Certified Firefighter (or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire)
