Job summary

Contra Costa County Fire Protection District is seeking a skilled Fire Apparatus Mechanic to maintain and repair our fleet of fire apparatus and support vehicles. The role involves diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues, performing repairs to pumps and systems, and testing vehicles to ensure readiness.

Candidates should have at least two years of heavy-duty truck experience, hold a California Class B license with Tank Endorsement by probation end, and be prepared to meet DOT health

Qualifications

• Two years of full-time experience as a heavy-duty truck mechanic.
• Valid California driver's license; Class B with Tank Endorsement required by end of probation.
• Ability to meet health standards per DOT.
• Fire apparatus mechanic experience desirable.

Responsibilities

• Inspect fire apparatus and support vehicles.
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical troubles; perform repairs including pumps.
• Operate shop tools and perform testing and road tests.
• Assist in training shop personnel.
