Job summary

The Contra Costa County Fire Protection District is seeking a skilled heavy duty truck mechanic to inspect and repair fire apparatus, boats, bulldozers, tractors, and other equipment. The role emphasizes diesel and electrical systems, preventive maintenance, and safety.

Requirements include a valid California driver’s license, Class B with Tank Endorsement (or Class A with Tank Endorsement) before the end of probation, and two years of full-time experience or completion of a heavy duty program.

Responsibilities

• Operate shop tools including electrical and acetylene welding devices.
• Road test and transport fire apparatus and service vehicles.
• Assist in training of shop and district personnel.
