Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety is seeking a Fire and Security Service Technician to independently service and maintain Fire Alarms, intrusion alarms, access control, CCTV, and related low-voltage systems across commercial sites in Maryland. Travel to job sites as required, uphold safety protocols, and ensure systems meet codes and customer expectations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2+ years of experience in commercial fire and security systems.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, if driving role.
• Strong working knowledge of fire alarms systems, intrusion alarms, access control, CCTV, and low-voltage systems.
• Ability to work independently and complete standard service jobs without direct supervision.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents and system drawings.

Responsibilities

• Independently perform service, troubleshooting, repair, inspection, and maintenance of Fire Alarms, security systems including intrusion alarms, access control, CCTV, and related low-voltage systems.
• Diagnose system issues and complete corrective actions in a timely and professional manner.
• Test and verify proper system functionality and compliance with applicable codes, standards, and customer requirements.
• Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on security and low-voltage systems.
• Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, system layouts, and technical manuals.
• Use hand tools and testing equipment to complete service work efficiently and safely.
• Complete service documentation, inspection reports, and work orders accurately and on time.
• Communicate professionally with customers, team members, and supervisors regarding job progress and system status.
• Follow all company safety procedures and customer site requirements
• Travel to job sites as required.
• Other duties as assigned by management.

The Fire and Security Service Technician is responsible for independently performing service, and maintenance of Fire Alarms and Security Systems including intrusion alarms, access control, CCTV, and other low-voltage systems. The technician ensures systems operate properly, meets customer expectations, and supports compliance with applicable codes and standards.

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods.

Pay Range

$30-$40 per hour
