Convergint is seeking a full-time, enthusiastic, results-driven, and forward-thinking Fire Alarm Technician to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will install, program, perform system start-up/check-out, testing/commissioning, customer training, and all associated documentation on assigned projects, including complex projects. What You’ll Do
  • Participate in our Recruit Awesome People program to help grow Convergint by promoting our colleague-first culture.
  • Install, program, test, repair, and service systems including security, fire alarm & life safety, and building automation, providing technical support and training to customers.
  • Understand architectural, mechanical, and electrical drawings and schematics.
  • Interpret manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams; repair equipment using electronics knowledge and standard tools.
  • Maintain expert understanding of building, mechanical, sprinkler, and fire codes.
  • Mentor less experienced colleagues.
  • Operate systems for demonstration, commissioning, performance analysis, and troubleshooting; write routine programs.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by acting as the best service provider at all times.
  • Consult with engineering to resolve system issues and suggest improvements.
  • Manage technical aspects of projects, including programming, start-up, testing, training, and documentation.
  • Identify project risks and collaborate on strategies to minimize impact.
  • Work with Fire Alarm Designer to ensure compliance with codes and standards.
  • Coordinate with Project and Operations Managers to improve project quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
What You’ll Need
  • Exceptional customer focus and ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to communicate complex topics to non-technical audiences.
  • Willingness to learn fire alarm and electronic security systems.
  • Self-starter with minimal supervision.
  • Understanding of electronics, control logic, and mechanical/electrical aptitude.
  • Expertise in programming, troubleshooting, and commissioning Edwards fire alarm systems or equivalent.
  • Willingness to obtain necessary certifications/licensing.
  • Mentoring skills for less experienced colleagues.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean record.
  • NICET Level II certification in Fire Alarm Systems.
  • Low voltage electrical license as required.
  • Ability to travel locally, with minimal overnight travel.

Minimum Requirements
  • High School/GED or equivalent experience
  • Local/State Electrical License
  • NICET Level II – Fire Alarm Systems
Preferred Experience
  • Associate degree in Electronics or related field, including military experience
  • 6+ years relevant field service
  • EST4 Certification
