Job summary

GEM Plumbing & Heating Services, LLC is seeking a Fire Alarm Technician based out of Lincoln, RI. The role covers service, testing, and inspection of fire alarm systems across RI, MA, and CT.

A RI/MA Electrical Journeyman license is preferred, NICET is a plus, and travel within the tri-state area is expected. Ideal candidates will have strong knowledge of NFPA 72, NEC, and fire alarm theory, with experience on systems from Gamewell-FCI, Siemens, Notifier, Edwards, Simplex, Honeywell and

Qualifications

• Massachusetts and/or Rhode Island Electrical Journeyman License
• NICET certification preferred, but not required
• Class D License (Systems Technician) or Class C License (Systems Contractor) preferred, not required
• Extensive understanding of NFPA 72, NEC, fire alarm system theory, OSHA requirements and industry standards

Responsibilities

• Service, program, test and inspect fire alarm systems with limited supervision
• Overtime may be required for emergency calls
• Coordinate with contractors, customers, and building staff to execute workload
• Identify code issues and non-conformance issues and suggest improvements
• Respond to troubleshooting and repairs on assigned customer systems

Job description

GEM is hiring a Fire Alarm Technician based out of Lincoln, RI. This position will handle all service, test, and inspection of fire alarm systems. The ideal candidate holds Massachusetts and/or Rhode Island Electrical License with industry experience. This position will travel within the RI, MA, and CT areas.

Responsibilities

• The ability to service, program, test, inspect and troubleshoot basic and complex fire alarm systems with limited or no supervision.
• Ability to install is a plus, but not required
• May require some overtime hours at night, on weekends and at a moment's notice for emergency calls
• Ability to coordinate with contractors, customers, building maintenance personnel, and office personnel to execute daily workload
• Ability to identify code issues and non-conformance issues
• Confidence and accuracy making recommendations regarding system installation improvements
• Commitment to respond and carry out to completion any troubleshooting and repairs on assigned customer systems
• Exceptional work ethic and attention to detail

Requirements

• Massachusetts and/or Rhode Island Electrical Journeyman License
• Prefer Class D License (Systems Technician) or Class C License (Systems Contractor), not required
• High school diploma is required
• Industry experience is preferred
• Extensive understanding of NFPA 72, NEC, fire alarm system theory, OSHA requirements, and industry standards for fire alarm installation.
• Experience with various systems including Gamewell-FCI, Siemens, Notifier, Edwards, Simplex, Honeywell, Fire-Lite, etc.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• A customer service mindset and proficiency with technology and mobile devices.
• NICET certification preferred, but not required.
• Ability and willingness to work throughout Rhode Island and Southern Massachusetts.
• Individual must possess a valid Driver's license and have a clean driving record
• Must be authorized to work in the United States
