  • Work under senior field personnel to complete installation and service tasks efficiently.
  • Maintain knowledge of NFPA 72 codes and standards as they apply to installation and inspection.
  • Follow site safety guidelines, proper tool-use procedures, and company safety policies.

Job description

Leapros Skilled Trades is actively hiring Fire Alarm Technician in Goodyear, AZ. Leapros Skilled Trades is actively recruiting a Fire Alarm Technician for a direct hire opportunity with a well-established electrical contractor based in Goodyear, AZ. In this role, you will work in the field performing installation, inspection, testing, and troubleshooting of commercial fire alarm and life safety systems in accordance with project drawings, specifications, and applicable codes. The ideal candidate brings at least one year of hands-on experience with fire detection and signaling systems, holds an OSHA 10 certification, and is available to work Monday through Saturday including 8-hour Saturday shifts as project needs require.

Job Type: Direct Hire - Hourly Rental Fee

Responsibilities:

  • Perform fire alarm system installations on commercial projects in accordance with project drawings, specifications, and applicable safety standards.
  • Conduct scheduled inspections and functional testing of fire detection and signaling systems to verify proper operation.
  • Troubleshoot fire alarm control equipment, initiating devices, and notification appliances to identify and resolve system faults.
  • Read and interpret system drawings and device placement plans to verify code-compliant installation.
  • Work under the direction of senior field personnel to complete assigned installation and service tasks efficiently.
  • Maintain working knowledge of NFPA 72 codes and standards as they apply to installation and inspection activities.
  • Follow all site safety guidelines, proper tool-use procedures, and company safety policies at all times.
  • Complete required company orientation prior to mobilization and adhere to all site access requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1 year of hands-on experience with fire detection and signaling systems, including installation, inspection, service, troubleshooting, or testing.
  • Demonstrated experience working with major fire alarm systems such as Honeywell/Notifier, Edwards Fire Safety (EST), Siemens, or Johnson Controls.
  • Strong working knowledge of initiating devices, notification appliances, fire alarm control equipment, and signal paths.
  • Ability to accurately read and interpret system drawings and verify device placement to ensure code compliance.
  • Solid foundation of basic electrical and electronic knowledge applicable to fire alarm systems.
  • Working knowledge of NFPA 72 codes and standards is strongly preferred.
  • Flexibility to work Monday through Saturday, including 8-hour Saturday shifts as project needs require.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening (mouth swab) conducted at new-hire orientation.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, stretch, twist, and reach for prolonged periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds at waist height for short distances, and occasionally up to 75 pounds.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift 50 pounds overhead for short distances.
  • Must be able to regularly carry and climb ladders up to 20 feet.
  • Must be able to work in tight or confined spaces as conditions require.
  • Must be able to see and distinguish different colors, read small print, and recognize audible system signals.
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers sufficient to operate hand tools and connect low-voltage wiring and devices.
  • Must be able to work in varying environmental conditions on active commercial construction sites.

The anticipated compensation range for this position is based on relevant factors such as experience, skills, education, internal equity, and geographic location. Final compensation will be determined during the interview process by the hiring authority.
