Job summary

Wiginton Fire Systems in Fort Myers, FL is seeking a Fire Alarm Technician to program, commission, service, and inspect fire alarm systems in line with NFPA standards. You will support life-safety objectives and ensure customer satisfaction.

The role requires hands-on field work, independent time management, and clear communication with customers. You will train and guide junior installers while maintaining safe, professional job sites and accurate reporting.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 2 years of fire alarm service and inspection experience.
  • Working knowledge of NFPA standards and fire alarm panel systems.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to perform physical work, including lifting, climbing, and working outdoors.

Responsibilities

  • Program and commission newly installed fire alarm systems.
  • Install and terminate low-voltage fire alarm equipment per NFPA and local codes.
  • Conduct functional testing and system verification.
  • Perform inspections and diagnose system issues.
  • Interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and manuals.
  • Educate customers on system operation and maintenance.
  • Prepare inspection and service reports accurately.
  • Provide oversight to helpers and junior installers.
  • Maintain a clean, safe jobsite.

Job description

Position Summary

The Fire Alarm Technician is responsible for programming, commissioning, servicing, and inspecting fire alarm systems in accordance with NFPA standards and manufacturer specifications. This position plays a critical role in ensuring system reliability, life safety compliance, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program and commission newly installed fire alarm systems
  • Install and terminate low-voltage fire alarm equipment in compliance with NFPA and local codes
  • Conduct functional testing and system verification
  • Perform inspections, troubleshoot deficiencies, and diagnose system issues
  • Interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and product manuals
  • Educate customers on system operation and preventative maintenance
  • Complete detailed inspection and service reports accurately and on time
  • Provide oversight and direction to helpers and junior installers
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and professional jobsite
