Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety is seeking a Fire Alarm Test & Inspect Technician to independently inspect, test, and troubleshoot fire alarm systems. This role requires device activation, system checks, and thorough documentation per NFPA standards.

The technician will travel to job sites, interpret drawings and technical documents, and ensure safety policy compliance. A high school diploma and 3+ years in fire/life safety are required, with NICET I+ preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3+ years of experience in the fire and life safety industry as a technician.
• Demonstrated ability to independently perform inspections and testing.
• Working knowledge of NFPA 72 and applicable codes.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• NICET Level I or above preferred.
• Independently capable in core technical functions.
• Able to complete standard jobs without direct supervision.

The Fire Alarm Test & Inspect Technician is responsible for independently performing inspection, testing, and basic troubleshooting of fire alarm systems. This position can complete standard jobs without direct supervision and ensures compliance with all applicable codes and standards.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting and climbing ladders.
• Work performed in commercial, industrial, and construction environments.
• Exposure to varying conditions including heights, confined spaces, and active job sites.
• Use of hand tools and testing equipment under supervision.
• Ability to lift 50+ pounds.
