Job summary

Oliver Fire Protection & Security in Lebanon, NJ, seeks an experienced Fire Alarm Systems Designer to create fire alarm, mass notification, and security system designs in AutoCAD for shop and record drawings.

The role requires 2–5 years of fire alarm design experience, AutoCAD proficiency, and the ability to read blueprints. You will collaborate with customers, management, and project teams while staying current on industry standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2–5 years of experience as a fire alarm designer.
• Proficient in AutoCAD.
• Ability to read blueprints and schematic drawings.
• MS Office experience (Outlook, Excel, Word).
• Ability to multitask successfully.
• Valid driver’s license and pre-employment screenings.

Responsibilities

• Design fire alarm, mass notification, and security alarm systems in AutoCAD for shop and record drawings.
• Communicate with customers, the Design Manager, salespeople, and project managers for status updates.
• Perform battery and voltage drop calculations for fire alarm systems.
• Produce submittal packages with drawings, calculations, and datasheets for permits.
• Review plans, specifications, bids for technical accuracy and best practices.
• Participate in design meetings and job kick-off meetings.
• Assist entry to mid-level designers as needed.
• Stay current with materials and techniques and relevant codes.
